Jamie
started singing before she could talk, or so the family says. It was
simply a matter of following in their footsteps when her love for music
was first apparent as she grew up surrounded by a family rich in talent.
Jamie’s first
performance was her 2nd grade leading role in the musical
The Ugly Duckling which was
followed by a role at the age of 9 as one of the Von Trapp children in a
production of The Sound of Music.
Next, Jamie began singing at many of the local Opry shows, fairs and
contests and also had a couple of opportunities to sing on television.
Her high school years brought a lot of singing and acting opportunities
her way, one of them being her role as Dolly Levy in the musical
Hello Dolly and another being
a season performing at Worlds of Fun.
After high school,
Jamie packed her bags and moved to Osage Beach, Missouri where she joined
her family on The Main Street Opry music show. She spent nine years
making music with her dad, Thom “Gabby” Gumm, step-mom, Sandy Gumm and
brother, Matt “Bubba/Sticky” Gumm. Jamie returned to the Kansas City area
in 2003 when she became the proud mama of her daughter, Emma. The
following year, Jamie became a regular member of the band at the Middle
Creek Theatre.
